About the Author:
Gretchen Kinnell has over 45 years of experience in the early childhood and adult education fields. She was a special education and preschool teacher, and education director of the Child Care Solutions in Syracuse, NY. Gretchen logged thousands of hours training people who work with young children in programs such as child care centers, nursery schools, family child care settings, Head Start, and public-school preschool programs.
Gretchen earned a bachelor's degree in special education from the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater. Since then, she has taken a wide variety of courses in education, computer programming, management, cultural anthropology, and sociology.
Her articles and interviews have been published in Parents, in Children and Families, and in other parenting publications, including the "Partners in Parenting" question-and-advice column in the Syracuse Post-Standard. Gretchen is the author of Good Going: Successful Potty Training for Children in Child Care, No Biting: Policy and Practice for Toddler Programs, and No Biting, Second Edition.
